Oh the things to be thankful for

In recent days the development of chaos and ailiments in friends lives has left me highly appreciating my life. I am very thankful for my health (no surgeries needed, not even a cold) and I appreciate the tranquility of my life (no major family disasters or life rattling events). THANK GOD I am where I am and am who I am. It’s a blessing to be the one supporting vs being supported.

Baby Craziness!!!

Have you ever been at a point in your life that everyone around you is doing something similar (aka wedding, graduating, babies). Well, for me that time is now. Of all the years, this is the one for babies. I have one friend due in February, and 3 in May… that’s 4 babies in a matter of months. CRAZY! But, I love it too… because they are so darn great to cuddle with and watch grow. It’s my prayer that they all have fun, healthy and enjoyable pregnancies. Bring on the babies!

Betty Crocker

Sooo… I haven’t exactly been a very domestic housewife, in terms of cooking. I love to bake, but making meals has never been my speacialty. Well, I have found a match made in heaven. On www.bettycrocker.com you can look up lowfat/under 30min prep meals and not only sift through recipies, but have them compile a grocery list. How easy and AWESOME is that! I find what we like, click “add to grocery list” and after I’m done compiling our week of recipies then I look at the grocery list and print it. There it is all layed out by grocery section ready for a quick and easy shopping trip! I LOVE IT and I think Mark is going to also, because I’ll be cooking more than 1x a week :)

Selling Our House!

Wow, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve logged on. I miss the online journal experience.

Anyway, we’ve decided to put our beloved home on the market this week. It’s time to move up into something that we can enjoy the company of more than just 2 friends in. Zoe will love more room to roam too I’m sure.

The market spruce up began last week with repainting the cupboards, and painting our entry way, stairwell downstairs, getting the carpets cleaned, painting the ceiling in the spare bedroom and putting up 2 new light fixtures. Needless to say, we’re doing our own rendition of TLC’s “Designed To Sell” :)

Hopefully we’ll get a few bids in soon. We’ve fallen in love with a new construction home in PH Township, and hope to get it… but with new construction you can’t usually do a “contingent sale” with your home. So we want to get ours sold a.s.a.p.

Prayers that the perfect buyer will come to our doorstep would be greatly appreciated :)

High School Dayz…

Having gone pretty much the past 5 years without talking to many of my high school buddies… it was GREAT to get together with 3 dear friends from the past. It all come about by chance, on the wonderful world of myspace. Kim announced that she had a job offer at DOW in Midland and was heading out the end of the week, then Amanda suggested that her, I, Kim and another friend Nikki all get together before she leaves. Low and behold we were all sitting at Applebee’s in Lapeer less than a week later (which was last night).

First we caught up on the happenings of our classmates we’d lost touch with, and then we updated each other on our lives… then got into what the future held. As Kim filled us in on her dream job at DOW a starting salary that’s worthy of drueling over and her master level education from the University of MI… she said something that really struck home for me. She said, someday I might want to be a teacher, but first I want to be known for something in the field. I can’t go into the classroom and expect the kids to want to listen to me if I haven’t done something incredible in the field they are learning about from me.

That comment made me realize that’s sooo true, and it really sat well with me. I want to do something memorable in the wealth management field, something influencial and helpful, something worth putting in books! Not all of us have that same desire… but it was an Aha! moment for me that I thought I’d share :)

Stuck…

Sooo… somehow I’m stuck at work today waiting for the service man to fix a vault problem we have, even though another co-worker actually caused the problem! I sure hope this extra time at my desk is worth it. At least it’ll be brownie points with the boss!

Mixed Emotions

Sooo… my grandparents have decided to sell the family farm. This is the place I grew up going too, and that my Great Great Grandpa built. I will miss the large family gatherings in the living room, finding sharks teeth in all of the stone work and going through the closets to find “treasures”. My mom is having the hardest time with this, she wanted to acquire the farm eventually. So I’m trying to be strong for her as she battles with her emotions, yet I’m ok with it (just a bit saddend)… that makes it a bit difficult to empathize with her… God always has a plan though. I just hope my Mom can see through this and into the future of what God’s lining up.

Spiritual Wealth

After spending a week at church camp with some great kids, wonderful staff and an awsome God… I’m still on a high! Carrie & Don’s theme class was so good that I went out and bought the book written by the guy they based their teachings on “Velvet Elvis.” I’m only a chapter in and it’s very intriguing… can’t wait to post my comments. I also took a lot out of the Raya-Ahavar-Dode. Mark and I’s anniversary was Sunday and we decided to make a goal for each of those types of love in order to continue growing in our relationship.

More to come… have to go for now…
